Woman Reaffirms Loyalty to Husband Despite His Suggestion to Leave After Severe Burns

Preston Cobb and Tanesha Oglesby, a Georgia couple, were planned to marry in July 2023. However, the groom-to-be sustained terrible injuries from a working accident the month before.

Preston, 34, offered his fiancée the option to cancel their wedding after the tragic setback, but she remained devoted to him.

“I wouldn’t blame her,” Preston told People. “She looked at me like I was crazy.” Tanesha also stated that the injuries her husband experienced did not indicate that he had altered within. “I was just thankful that he was still alive,” Tanesha, 33, added.

“It does not change who he is on the inside. It doesn’t change the love he gives me every day.”

Preston, a veteran ex-soldier, was injured in a chemical spill that burned 32% of his body, according to a GoFundMe page set up for him. Following the event, Preston was taken to the Augusta Burn ICU for medical treatment.

Preston lost nine toes and several fingers due to a chemical leak. Despite Preston’s health, Tanesha married the love of her life. She has remained by her husband’s side, embodying the “for better or worse” sentiment.

“That day showed me that true love never fails, it will always come through,” Preston remarked, referring to their wedding day.

Preston first offered his then-fiancé the option to quit their relationship due to his health. “I knew it was going to be a very long road for recovery,” he told reporters. “This is not how I imagined us spending the rest of our lives together.”

But Tanesha decided to stay. “She makes life worth living,” Preston remarked. “God understood what he was doing when he brought us together. Thank you, God. You have literally sent an angel to take care of me and accompany me.”

Tanesha describes her husband as a “amazing man” who offers her “love that I’ve never experienced.” The pair also intends to extend their family by having a kid.

“Regardless of what comes our way, with the love that we have for each other, it’s strong enough to withstand it, it’s strong enough to get us through,” Tanesha added. “Even in difficult times, we hold onto the affection we have for one other…Everything we’ve been through only makes us stronger.”
