Kenyan Athlete, Omanyala Beats Olympic champion Marcell Jacobs in 60m

On Wednesday, Kenyan Ferdinand Omanyala won the 60m at the Liévin meeting (Pas-de-Calais) in 6:54, defeating the Olympic champion in the 100m, Italy’s Marcell Jacobs.

 

Omanyala, 27, set a new national record, breaking his previous record, which had only been in place for a week, by a hundredth of a second.

 

He defeated Jacobs, the double Liévin champion who ran in 6:57 this time, and the Ivorian Arthur Cissé (6 sec 59).
