According to the current Henley Passport Index, six countries now share the status of having the world’s most powerful passports.
Citizens of France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Singapore, and Spain can now visit a record-breaking 194 countries without a visa.
The Henley Passport Index, a well-known ranking based on proprietary data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), examines how many destinations a passport bearer can visit without a visa.
South Korea, Finland, Sweden, and the Netherlands are tied for second place with visa-free travel to 193 destinations.
The United Kingdom, Austria, Denmark, Ireland, and Luxembourg are in third place, with citizens able to visit 192 countries without a visa.
Australia is ranked fifth with visa-free access to 190 destinations, followed by Canada, Czechia, Poland, and the United States, which are tied for sixth place with visa-free admission to 189 countries.
The index also highlights countries that have limited visa-free travel possibilities.
India ranks 82nd, having access to only 62 destinations.
Several African countries, including Gabon, Sao Tome and Principe, Tajikistan, Burkina Faso, Madagascar, Cote d’Ivoire, Guinea, and Mauritania, rank near the bottom of the index, with visa-free access to 61 or 60 destinations.
Nigeria ranks 98th with 45 locations, while Syria and Afghanistan rank even lower at 108th and 109th, respectively, having visa-free entry to only 29 and 28 countries, respectively.
