Kenya takes center stage in African gambling, with an astounding 83.90% of Kenyans admitting to gaming or betting. Surprisingly, despite regulatory measures, this number has continued to rise.
Nigeria follows closely behind, with 78% of Nigerians admitting to gambling. Notably, Nigerians have the highest average monthly bet spending.
South Africa, which is recognized for its numerous betting possibilities, has 74% of respondents who gamble. Surprisingly, lotteries edged out football as the most popular betting option (29.3% vs. 53%).
On the East African coast, we discover Tanzania, where 63% of respondents gamble, with football remaining the most popular sport. Uganda has also seen an increase in its betting culture, with 59% of the population partaking.
