Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, has apparently dropped plans for a sequel to his highly successful memoir Spare.
A royal analyst and author argues that the change in plans is owing to the “damage” Prince Harry’s book caused to his relationship with his father, King Charles. In 2023, Penguin Random House published Harry’s first book, Spare, ghost-written by J. R. Moehringer, as part of the Sussexes’ four-book agreement.
With 416 pages packed full of bombshells, there were soon suggestions that there was a lot Harry didn’t include, despite the fact that it had previously been suggested that there was enough material for him to write another memoir. The Duke stated immediately after the book’s publication that “there could have been two books”.

In an interview with the Telegraph, he stated that “the hard bit was taking things out.” Ingrid Seward believes the Duke will not release another book due to the negative impact on his relationship with his father caused by Harry’s open criticism of Queen Camilla.
“But you know, Charles has such a busy life, there’s so much going on, I don’t think he’s holding a grudge against Harry, I just think he’s withdrawn from Harry,” 9honey added. She went on to say that the King is now “very careful” around his son, and that he is likely concerned that Harry is taking notes. “I don’t think Harry’s interested in writing another book,” she continued, referring to the Duke’s recent Good Morning America interview. She went on to say, “I would think the other book, the real corker, would be Meghan.” That has to be [on its way] because that’s the only way she’s going to make serious money [by writing it].
