Phil Foden says he is in his finest form in a long time after scoring a hat-trick to help Manchester City move up to second in the Premier League with a 3-1 victory over Brentford.
The England international has 14 goals this season and is enjoying playing more centrally than he has previously under Pep Guardiola.
“Really pleased with my performances, delighted with the way I’m playing,” Foden told Sky Sports.
“Playing more indoors, where I want to play as well. (It is) the most consistent form I’ve had in a City shirt in a long time.”
Victory brought City within two points of leaders Liverpool, with a game in hand remaining.
Brentford’s Neal Maupay opened the scoring against the run of play, but City’s persistence was eventually rewarded when Foden scored in first-half stoppage time.
Foden then turned the game around by heading in Kevin De Bruyne’s cross, and 20 minutes later, he completed his second career hat-trick off an Erling Haaland ball.
“We remained calm. “We are a team that believes in our abilities; we had to be patient,” Foden remarked.
“Throughout we deserved the win, had a lot of chances and dominated the ball.”
