Authorities in Milwaukee have charged two men with murder in the death of a 20-year-old woman who allegedly informed the wife of one of the accused suspects about an affair she was having with her husband.

Kania Brunson’s body was discovered in an alley on September 24, according to CBS 58. According to reports, the victim was tied and shot before her body was set on fire. Sutan Shareef and Johnny Allen Hopgood were identified as the two men arrested and charged in connection with her murder. Shareef’s brother-in-law is the latter.

Brunson and Shareef were having an affair, according to police, and they met on the day she was killed. Shareef is also said to have gotten in touch with Brunson’s mother the week before her murder.

“He goes on to say I want to be done messing with your daughter but she’s reaching out to my wife,” the victim’s mother, Jennifer Meadows, told the news outlet.

The victim’s body was discovered after Shareef’s friend contacted authorities to report seeing Shareef and Brunson in the suspect’s car. He stated that Shareef was on top of Brunson and that “the female stated, ‘he cut my throat,’ and she was screaming and pleading for help.”

When police discovered Brunson’s remains, the two suspects were nowhere to be found. “She meant the world to me. Meadows stated, “She was everything, and this is the most painful feeling.” Despite the fact that the two men have since been arrested and charged with her daughter’s murder, Meadows says she wants other people who allegedly provided false information to be held accountable as well.

Shareef’s wife was among the multiple people police interviewed, per CBS 58. She allegedly claimed her husband was with her on the night Brunson was killed. But video evidence showed her claim was false, a criminal complaint stated.

“And they think that they’re gonna be out here and live their normal life after they, you know, helped with this,” Meadows said.

Brunson’s stepfather, Cameron Meadows, also re-echoed his wife’s sentiments. “I just want the same thing that my wife wants. I want justice and I want it to be at the full extent. It’s still unbelievable. It’s still hard to believe that you know, she’s not here with us,” he said.

Shareef’s charges include first-degree intentional homicide and mutilating a corpse, WISN reported. Hopgood has also been charged with mutilating a corpse and harboring or aiding a felon.
