Iran Accuses Israel Of ‘Mass Murder’ After Pager Explosions

Iran claimed Israel on Wednesday of “mass murder” after explosive devices allegedly to the Tehran-aligned Hezbollah militia in Lebanon exploded, killing nine people and injuring almost 3,000 more.

In a statement, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kanani condemned the Zionist regime’s terrorist crime as “an example of mass murder.”

Iran’s ambassador to Lebanon, Mojtaba Amani, was among those injured in the pager blasts on Tuesday, with Iranian media stating that he received injuries “to the hand and face.”

According to state television, Amani had minor injuries.

The Iranian Red Crescent announced on Wednesday that it has sent “rescue teams and eye surgeons” to Lebanon to treat the injured.

Israel had no immediate comment on the wave of bombings that killed nine people, including the 10-year-old daughter of a Hezbollah member, and injured over 2,800 others.

The explosions occurred barely hours after Israel announced that it was widening the scope of the conflict launched by Hamas’ October 7 strikes to include a struggle against the group’s affiliate Hezbollah along the country’s border with Lebanon.

In his statement, Kanani expressed solidarity with the families of those murdered and injured in the explosions, including the Iranian ambassador.

“Combating the terrorist acts of the (Israeli) regime and the threats arising from them is an obvious necessity,” Kanani told the crowd.

“It is necessary for the international community to act quickly in order to counter the impunity of the Zionist criminal authorities.”
