7-Year-Old Paris Epps Becomes First African-American to be Crowned Tiny Miss Princess of America

Paris Epps, a seven-year-old from Tulsa, Oklahoma, has become the first African American to be elected Tiny Miss Princess of America. Paris was crowned Tiny Miss Princess of America at a pageant held in Branson, Missouri. According to The Oklahoma Eagle, she also won honors for Casual Wear, Active Wear, Best Interview, Best Smile, and Miss Personality.

The Princess of America pageant is a national competition for girls ages 4 to 24 to help them develop confidence and leadership qualities. The pageant awards national crowns in several age categories and honours great talent as well as ambassadors who excel in appearance, community service, and volunteer work.

Paris will receive a special crown, tuition money, and vacation opportunities such as a Caribbean trip as the Tiny Miss Princess of America. She will represent the Princess of America organization, promote her “Paris to the Rescue” platform to help animals find homes, and make appearances across the country.

Paris also received a handmade crown, banner, flowers, and a crystal prize as part of her victory. She was also treated to a professional picture session and a gift reception during which she received sponsored presents from Princess of America Pageant supporters.

Dr. Shavonda Pannell, Paris’ mother, expressed her immense joy and pride on social media after her daughter’s historic win. She shared her excitement with the following message: “Y’all the joy I felt hearing this news is unexplainable! She is really making strides and making history! I am soooo proud of this little girl! She truly is Tulsa’s Sweetheart.”

Paris, also reflecting on her historic win, expressed her gratitude for the overwhelming love and support she received from her friends. “I felt so good hearing all my friends behind me clapping and showing me so much love and support because that is what it’s all about. I will never forget this day! Thank you, Princess of America, for making all of my dreams come true! I love my POA!”

Paris comes from a pioneering family that includes her parents, Dr. Shavonda Pannell, CEO of The Prancing Pearls of Excellence, and Willis Epps; her grandparents, Anthony and Valonda Pannell; and her great-grandfather, “King Arthur” Pannell, a successful Tulsa entrepreneur and restaurateur.
