40,000 Black Women Raised Over $1.5M For Kamala Harris in Under 3 Hours

Over the weekend, President Biden startled the nation by announcing that he would not seek reelection and would support Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic presidential candidate. Following his statement, the “Win With Black Women” movement planned a significant call, attracting over 40,000 Black women. In just three hours, they raised almost $1.5 million in support of Vice President Harris, proving their amazing grassroots organizing ability.

This stunning demonstration of solidarity and determination emphasizes the power of grassroots movements. Despite political uncertainty, the dedication and action of organizations such as Win With Black Women provide optimism for a united and progressive future.

The response to Biden’s decision was overwhelmingly favorable, with many people thanking him for his service. Honored by the endorsement, Vice President Harris promised to unite the Democratic Party and the nation. She stressed her determination to resist former President Donald Trump’s “Project 2025” agenda.

As the media buzzed with analysis and speculation, the nonprofit Win With Black Women reacted promptly to the news. Jotaka Eaddy founded the group in 2020, bringing 90 women together on a Zoom chat to strategize for the 2020 election. Since then, it has developed into a strong network of more than 4,000 intergenerational and intersectional Black women leaders across the country.
