Women In Touch, Inc. recently awarded six $1,000 scholarships to graduating high school seniors and college students, keeping up its annual tradition.
Awards were given based on financial need, community service, extracurricular activities, grade point average, and a personal interview.
Morgan Sims, Bryce Brown, Keauna Hooks, and Jaylin Jones, all graduating seniors, received scholarships as they prepare to enter college.
Christy Daniel, a Tuskegee University student, got her third $1,000 scholarship from the organization, which is valid annually for four years.
Tenisha Douglas of Trenholm State Community College was also awarded a $1,000 scholarship to further her studies in Culinary Arts.
According to Women In Touch, the scholarship program’s objective “is to provide critical financial assistance that will increase graduation rates in post-secondary education.”
The organization typically offers only two scholarships every year, but this year they were able to expand that number due to “generous support from businesses, individuals, and other donors.”
