Meet Ari Simpson, the founder of Tees of Life, a statement t-shirt brand that was able to generate a million dollars in revenue in just three years while also juggling motherhood and a full-time job.
Simpson and her husband founded Tees of Life in 2020 to satisfy her creative thirst to say what she wanted to say. Because she has always loved statement t-shirts, she decided to launch a t-shirt line with sassy messages of self-love and confidence aimed primarily at women.
Simpson admitted that she and her husband were clueless when they started the business, but they were passionate about it. Simpson, who was working a 9-5 job at the time, dedicated all of her free time to growing the business. According to Black Enterprise, she even sacrificed her lunch breaks, PTOs, weekends, and special events with family and friends.
Everything she did was worthwhile after only three years. The brand received an overwhelming response from their local community at first, until they reached more people on social media and sold over 50,000 statement t-shirts. Simpson quit her job as Tees of Life approached the million-dollar mark in order to devote more time to the company.
