Dutch swimmer Marrit Steenbergen won gold in the women’s 100m freestyle at the global championships in Doha on Friday.
Steenbergen, who won bronze in the race at the championships last year, triumphed in 52.26 seconds, five months before the Paris Olympics.
That was 0.30 seconds faster than Hong Kong’s Siobhan Haughey, last year’s silver medalist and gold medalist in the 200m earlier this week. Shayna Jack, an Australian, finished third.
