Tyla, a South African phenomenon, has cancelled her highly anticipated inaugural world tour barely a fortnight before it was set to begin.
Tyla said in a message on her Instagram page that her decision was motivated by the need to properly recover from a deteriorating injury she has been dealing with for a year.
Despite medical intervention, the singer stated that her condition has worsened dramatically, forcing her to make this tough decision.
“For the past year, I’ve been quietly suffering from an injury that has tragically deteriorated. I’ve seen doctors and specialists with high hopes, but the pain has only gotten worse, as has the severity of the condition.
“I am absolutely heartbroken to have to say this, but as of right now, I will be unable to continue with the tour,” the statement read, without explaining the severity of the ailment.
The Grammy winner had planned to begin her tour on March 21 in Norway’s capital, Oslo, but stated that “continuing any festival or tour dates would jeopardize my long-term health and safety.”
Patrons who purchased tickets in North America are anticipated to receive refunds, while her UK and European tour dates will be rescheduled.
