Drone strikes targeted Russia’s oil refineries and border regions for the second day in a row on Wednesday, with one causing a fire and injuring several people in the Ryazan region, according to officials.
According to regional governors, dozens of drones were fired overnight over the Ukrainian border districts of Belgorod, Bryansk, Kursk, and Voronezh, with the vast majority being shot down, causing some damage but no casualties.
One ignited a fire and injured many people when it collided with an oil refinery in the Ryazan region, about 200 kilometers (120 miles) southeast of Moscow.
“The Ryazan oil refinery was attacked by a drone,” Ryazan regional governor Pavel Malkov posted on Telegram.
“According to preliminary information, there are injuries,” he wrote in an email.
A fire broke out at the refinery as a result of the strike, and “all rescue services are working at the scene,” Malkov stated.
A drone targeting another oil refinery in the Leningrad region in the second city of Saint Petersburg in northwest Russia was shot down, according to regional governor Alexander Drozdenko on Telegram. There was no damage or casualties.
More than 30 drones were shot down over Voronezh, causing some minor damage, according to regional governor Alexander Gussev on Telegram.
Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov reported on Telegram that six drones were shot down over the Belgorod region, causing damage to multiple electrical cables and power disruptions.
Eight drones were shot down over the Bryansk region, while four were destroyed over Kursk with no reported damage, according to the governors of those districts on Telegram.

According to Russian officials, the strikes targeted two Russian energy complexes, including one of the country’s largest oil refineries, located around 800 kilometers from the border.
A drone struck a major oil refinery in Kstovo, near Nizhny Novgorod, early Tuesday morning, according to the regional governor.
Another drone crashed into a gasoline station and caused a fire in Oryol, around 160 kilometers from the border, according to the regional governor.
