Ronaldinho, a former Barcelona and AC Milan legend, is reportedly facing the confiscation of two houses in Brazil to pay off alleged tax problems.
Tax authorities, according to the Mail Online, have requested an appraisal of his real estate holdings in Rio de Janeiro and his native state of Rio Grande do Sul so that they can be utilized to reclaim any money owing by the former footballer if necessary.
The houses are claimed to be in the western section of Rio and in Xangri-La, a community on Brazil’s south coast about 80 miles from Porto Alegre, where Ronaldinho was born.
According to Brazilian media sources, frustrated tax officials have set their sights on Ronaldinho’s property after failing to uncover any money in the footballer’s bank accounts.
The 43-year-old’s expensive cars and artwork were taken by Brazilian officials in November 2018 after he and his brother Roberto de Assis Moreira were pursued by officials over charges he owed money for fines made against his charity.
The previous month, he had his passport confiscated after state prosecutors uncovered only five pounds in his bank account while attempting to recover money in a different case involving illegal construction in a protected region.
After arriving into the country on a fraudulent passport in March 2020, he ended up spending a month in prison and four months under house detention at a hotel in Asuncion.
