Rihanna Will Sing ‘Lift Me Up’ At The Oscars Next Month

Rihanna will follow up her soaring Super Bowl halftime spectacular with a performance at the Oscars, the movie equivalent of the Super Bowl.

The telecast’s producers announced Thursday that the music superstar will perform “Lift Me Up” from “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.”

The song “Lift Me Up,” composed by Tems, Rihanna, Ryan Coogler, and Ludwig Göransson, and written by Tems and Ryan Coogler, has been nominated for best original song. Rihanna has received her first Academy Award nomination.

Earlier this month, dressed in a bright red costume, the Barbadian superstar blasted through 12 of her classics in 13 minutes at the Super Bowl at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. The concert also served as a public statement that she was expecting her second child.

The 95th Academy Awards, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, will telecast live on ABC and other broadcast sources globally on March 12.

Lady Gaga, who was nominated for “Hold My Hand” from “Top Gun: Maverick,” is one of Rihanna’s Oscar competitors. Lady Gaga co-wrote the song with BloodPop; she won an Oscar in 2019 for “Shallow” alongside Bradley Cooper.

Diane Warren, who garnered her 14th Oscar nomination for “Applause” from “Tell It Like a Lady,” is another nominee. Last year, the prolific songwriter received an honorary Oscar at the Governors Awards.

Other best original song nominees are M.M. Keeravaani’s “Naatu Naatu” from “RRR,” which was written by Chandrabose, and “This is a Life” from “Everything Everywhere All at Once.”

The latter track was created by Mitski, David Byrne and Ryan Lott, who along with his band Son Lux was also nominated for best original score.
