Punching Stats Prove Tyson Fury’s Saudi Arabia Victory Was Deserved

Punch statistics from Tyson Fury’s fight against Francis Ngannou in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Sunday morning, October 29 show that the British boxer won.

Ngannou, a Cameroonian mixed martial artist, knocked out the World heavyweight champion in round three of their battle. Unshaken Fury was able to resume the bout, which lasted 10 rounds.

Fury, the unbeaten champion of the sport, nearly survived his first defeat at the hands of his 37-year-old opponent, who had never boxed professionally before.

In the non-title fight, the British boxer defeated Ngannou on a split decision.

One judge scored Ngannou 95-94, while two other judges scored Fury 96-93 and 95-94.

Many people on social media claimed that Ngannou was robbed because he fought better than Fury.

According to Compubox, Fury landed 71 of his 223 total punches – nearly one-third of the time – while Ngannou scored with 59 of 231 attempts.

Fury also landed more punches than Ngannou in six of the ten rounds, with Ngannou being the more active fighter in the third, fourth, and eighth rounds, with round seven being tied.

Though Fury had the advantage in total punches landed, Ngannou landed more power punches than Fury, with 37 to Fury’s 32.
