Prince Harry to Attend King Charles’ Coronation without Meghan Markle

A spokesperson for Buckingham Palace said on Wednesday that Prince Harry will attend his father, Britain’s King Charles, coronation next month, but his wife, Meghan Markle, will remain in California with their children.

On May 6, Charles will be crowned at London’s Westminster Abbey in a ceremony rich in pomp and pageantry, with traditions dating back 1000 years.

Coronation festivities will last three days, beginning on Saturday.

The three-day weekend will include a star-studded concert, a nationwide “big lunch,” and volunteer initiatives, in addition to the traditional coronation processions.

The royal family revealed new details about the procession on Sunday, as well as a new Twitter emoji based on St Edward’s Crown, which the king will wear.

However, preparations for the event have been overshadowed in recent months by speculation about whether Harry and Meghan will attend the coronation. This comes on the heels of the couple’s damning revelations about the king, Harry’s elder brother Prince William, and other royals in a memoir, Netflix documentary, and series of TV interviews.

Following their departure from the royal family in January 2020, Harry and Meghan made their claims.
