Philadelphia Couple Living in Storage Unit Kicked Out After Viral Video

Leland Brown Jr. and his partner were forced out after becoming viral with footage of their experience living in a storage unit and their efforts to find a home.

In one of the videos, the Philadelphia couple showed off a novel setup in their storage facility in Hatfield, Pennsylvania. The living room featured outlets, a couch, and other furniture. Brown also informed his fans that the climate-controlled facility includes bathrooms.

He intended to stay in the storage unit until they could buy a house with the money he made from his labor, he stated. The storage facility appeared to be a step up from the tent they had previously been in, which was wet and snow-covered, as seen in prior video files.

He said on TikTok, “Me and my baby will live here as long as we need to until we can get the shelter that we want. Because we’re living here, now we can save up more money to get what we really want. We’re in it for the long haul.”

His videos received over 11 million views, and they drew the attention of the building management, who took action against the two.

Brown, who is now homeless, released a video stating that they were booted out of their storage facility. The higher-ups found out about my video, which went viral, and we were ejected out. Now we’re simply figuring out where we’re moving and what to do with all of our belongings.”

When Brown and his partner ran out of alternatives, a nice stranger offered them hotel accommodations.

In an update to his concerned followers, Brown shared, “We’ll be staying at this hotel for a couple days for free. I’m just grateful that somebody is thinking of us like that on that level and willing to give us their resources like that. We’re gonna have a good time and relax for once.”

Through their GoFundMe page, he and his girlfriend have raised over $2,700 of their $10,000 target in donations.

In his own words, Brown created the page “to create a brighter future for my 7-year-old son, who is currently living with his mom, who is also struggling to make ends meet without my assistance.”

Despite their terrible situation, he stressed that he is working hard to provide stability for himself and his family.

Most of the time, his followers—some of whom have even found themselves in similar situations as him—comment with concerns, advice, and encouragement.
