Nigerian Court Remands Naira Marley, Sam Larry Over Mohbad’s Death

A Magistrate Court in Lagos State’s Yaba district has remanded Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, and Balogun Eletu, alias Sam Larry, to police custody in connection with Mohbad’s death.

The Lagos State Police Command had previously sought that Naira Marley and the others be held in custody for 30 days while their investigation was completed.

Fashola and the others, however, were ordered imprisoned for 21 days by Magistrate Adeola Olatunbosun.

In accordance with the continuing investigation, the Lagos State Police have proclaimed a singer, Owodunni Ibrahim, alias Prime Boy, wanted for declining an invitation to assist in the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of 27-year-old artist, Ilerioluwa Aloba, alias Mohbad.

This was contained in a statement released on Wednesday by its spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin.

Hundeyin who said the police had placed a N1million bounty on Prime Boy, described Ibrahim as a “male, approximately 1.64 m tall, complexioned with tribal marks and Yoruba by tribe.”

He said, “If seen, contact the nearest police station or call 0803 688 5727. CP Idowu Owohunwa hereby offers a handsome reward of N1,000,000 to anyone with useful information leading to his arrest.”

On Thursday, Primeboy turned himself in to the Police hours after he was declared wanted.

The House of Representatives informed Mohbad’s family on Wednesday that it would ensure adequate pay and royalties from his musical works.

Olumide Osoba, representing the Abeokuta North/Odeda/Obafemi-Owode Federal Constituency of Ogun State, announced this during an interactive session on the rights and royalties of the deceased rapper, who died on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27.

Osoba also admitted that young musicians are frequently unaware of their rights while signing into contracts.
