Myeshia Mizuno, the first Black woman to lead a prime-time game show, now hosts Family Feud. Mizuno now manages both the regular and celebrity editions of the show, which marks a watershed milestone in television history.
“It’s daunting, but definitely what I’m up for,” Mizuno told Variety. “It’s a well-built machine, but coming in and adding some oil to the spokes is how I look at it.”
Mizuno has extensive experience in TV production, including work on Judge Judy and ABC’s relaunch of Supermarket Sweep. She is well-prepared for her new role.
Mizuno’s wide background qualifies her to provide a new perspective to the renowned game show while honoring its rich history, ensuring it continues to thrill audiences. Mizuno intends to improve the event by introducing new prize items such as vacation packages and creating a comfortable backstage area for star competitors.
Steve Harvey, the show’s host, has expressed confidence in her abilities, pointing out how well she has fit into the legendary program. They previously collaborated on ABC’s Emmy-nominated Judge Steve Harvey.
The upcoming season of Celebrity Family Feud features an interesting lineup of talents, including Megan Thee Stallion, Ne-Yo, and different sports celebrities. Notable matchups include Meghan Trainor vs. Tori Kelly and a unique Golden Bachelor showdown.
Furthermore, Mizuno’s nomination represents a tremendous advancement in television representation and creativity.
“To be the first Black woman to run a primetime network game show is huge,” Mizuno continued. “And not just any game show, but an iconic franchise at that! I’m very appreciative of it. I don’t know why it has taken such a long time, but I’m happy to know that it’s now a genre that has been cracked open for someone like me to be a part of it.”
