Meet Sheena Parker, the founder and CEO of 4SYT Industries, an Atlanta-based Black woman-owned facilities maintenance firm. In preparation for the 2022 World Series, her organization has won large contracts with key buildings and venues, including Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.
Sheena is happy that her company contributed to the Phillies’ World Series victory. 4SYT is in charge of cleaning Citizens Bank Park before and after the games. Even after a rain delay, the 150-person crew had to pressure wash all 43,035 seats in the venue to ensure they were ready for the next game.
“My guys work super hard and they work all night,” she told ABC6. “We do pressure washing, trash pickup, and janitorial.”
Parker stated that her organization not only prepares Citizens Bank Park for the World Series, but also for other concerts and events. Apart from that, 4SYT is in charge of all state facilities in Delaware, the Atlanta public school system, and a number of buildings and venues in six states along the East Coast.
Parker takes satisfaction in the fact that her company is one of the few Black-owned businesses to get such large contracts, which she did not anticipate at first. Parker, an army veteran, said she is generally the lone Black woman, or even the only woman, when she visits sites in an area dominated by men. She aims to inspire other women and minorities who have lofty ambitions.
“We all have the fear,” she said. “And I would just suggest that anyone push through that fear with whatever dream or business that they want to start. They just go ahead and do it.”
