Police detained a guy who slammed his car into the gates of London’s Buckingham Palace over the weekend, they said on Sunday.
The Metropolitan Police claimed the automobile “collided with the gates” of the royal house at 02:30 GMT on Saturday.
According to a police spokesperson, armed officers apprehended the man at the scene on suspicion of criminal damage and sent him to hospital.
According to the spokeswoman, no one was wounded, and investigations are underway to determine the circumstances.
Buckingham Palace, the official residence of the British royal family, has strict security measures in place, with armed soldiers constantly monitoring the edifice in the heart of the capital.
Previously, the palace has been the target of numerous break-in attempts.
In September of last year, a 25-year-old man was arrested after attempting to access the royal stables.
In the run-up to King Charles III’s coronation in May, a man was jailed for throwing shotgun cartridges onto Buckingham Palace grounds.
The same month, a 43-year-old man was detained after slamming his car into the gates at Downing Street, the home of British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
