Liverpool have reportedly agreed to a £60million deal to sign Southampton’s Romeo Lavia.
Jürgen Klopp is anxious to bolster his midfield after losing out on signing Brighton’s Moisés Caicedo for a British record fee of £115 million.
The Belgium international has four years left on his Southampton contract, but a summer move is expected if an interested party reaches his £50 million asking price.
Over the weekend, it was reported that Liverpool were willing to up their offer to £55 million in order to secure the Belgian starlet, but The Guardian reports that the Reds have instead launched a £60 million bid.
Southampton accepted the bid from Merseyside rivals Liverpool, who had previously refused to break the £45m barrier, although the midfielder’s mooted move to Anfield is far from a formality.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side is also trying to derail Liverpool’s pursuit of Lavia, who was reportedly the target of a £55 million bid from Chelsea last week.
