Kanye West Drops 2024 US Presidential Bid

Kanye West, a Grammy-winning American rapper, has withdrawn from the 2024 presidential run, according to the Daily Mail.

On Friday, the rapper’s personal attorney, Bruce Marks, confirmed the news.

Following his failed bid in 2020, Kanye, now known by his legal name Ye, revealed his plans to run for president in 2024 in November 2022.

A person connected to Kanye’s 2020 committee confirmed Marks’ assertion to the newspaper, adding ‘there’s no plan’ to run and ‘no campaign organization or anything along those lines in place.’

The insider also described the possibility of the fickle performer altering his mind about a YE24 bid as ‘beyond remote’.

The October Federal Election Commission filing by Kanye’s political committee, Kanye 2020, also includes ‘proof of the decision not to launch a presidential bid,’ according to Rolling Stone.

The committee is presently led by its treasurer, and recent spending indicates that they may be shutting down operations. According to the publication, they have less than $25,000 on hand.

In April, a filmmaker engaged by Kanye to create a documentary for release in November 2022 gave some light on why Kanye may have left politics.

Kanye allegedly told Adam Camacho, ‘Right now, I am living my life – like I’m concentrating on the school, The Donda Academy, and my new wife, and my kids, and that’s it.’

The Famous hitmaker allegedly added, “I just want to be left alone.”

According to an unidentified employee of Kanye’s company at the time, “his interests are concentrated on his children, family, and creative endeavors… Anyone representing Ye in any political role is a liar. There is no such thing as a political shop.”

Kanye’s political ambitions were cemented when he declared himself an independent candidate for the 2020 US presidential election.

West filed official registration with the Federal Election Commission on July 15, 2020, and he chose the ‘BDY’ Party label.

Kanye received approximately 60,000 votes in the 12 states where he was on the ballot.

His political ambitions became known to the public earlier than 2020, when he met with then-President Donald Trump in the White House in 2018.

During the conference, he addressed subjects ranging from the 13th Amendment to American industry.

He constantly applauded Trump while wearing a red ‘Make America Great Again’ hat.

“It was something about when I put this hat on, it made me feel like Superman,” Kanye said at the time.

“You made a Superman cape for me, also, as someone who looks up to you … looks up to American industry guys.”

At the Oval Office meeting, Trump was asked whether he thought the rapper could be a future presidential candidate and responded ‘could very well be’.

Kanye chimed in, ‘Only after 2024’.
