President Joe Biden and his predecessor Donald Trump will be on the campaign road in New York on Thursday, with one hosting a massive fundraiser and the other honoring a deceased police officer.
Biden, an 81-year-old Democrat, will participate in a fundraiser event alongside his predecessors, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama.
His campaign staff has already declared a “historic” fundraising total of more than $25 million.
Stephen Colbert, a late-night TV comic, will moderate a debate between the three Democratic leaders.
The event, which will be hosted at Radio City Music Hall in midtown Manhattan in front of 5,000 people, will feature performances by Lizzo and Queen Latifah, among others.
The star-studded fundraiser is the first of its type to include all three Democratic presidents.
According to NBC News, guests can pay $100,000 to take a snapshot with the trio.
“The numbers don’t lie: today’s event is a massive show of force and a true reflection of the momentum to reelect the Biden-Harris ticket,” Jeffrey Katzenberg, the campaign’s lead fundraiser, said in a statement, referring to the Vice President.
He believes Biden will generate more money in one evening than Trump did in the entire month of February.
Biden’s campaign coffers are better stocked than his Republican opponent’s, who is using part of the monies gathered by his supporters to cover legal fees in the numerous lawsuits he is facing.
On Thursday, the billionaire, who is facing four criminal accusations, will appear as a supporter of law enforcement rather than in the dock.
The Republican business magnate intends to attend the funeral of police officer Jonathan Diller, who was shot and died during a traffic check on Monday.
“To Officer Diller’s family and all of the other brave men and women in law enforcement who put their lives on the line every day, we love you, we appreciate you, and we will always stand with you,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform on Tuesday.
The 77-year-old Republican focuses much of his campaign rhetoric on combating illegal immigration and blasting his Democratic opponent for shoddy enforcement.
On Wednesday, White House spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre stated that Biden “is deeply grateful for the sacrifices police officers make to keep our communities safe.”
