Meet Ashley M. Fox, the founder of Empify and the first member of her family to attend college. She found her ideal job on Wall Street, inspiring her to pursue entrepreneurship.
Despite working for one of the world’s largest banks for around eight months, the Howard graduate wanted more than she had. This drive and vision drove her to become an entrepreneur.
“After about eight months at my job, I felt like I didn’t have the desire to be the best person on Wall Street; I wanted to be like the client,” Fox said to AFROTECH.”I realized that no matter how long I stayed in my Wall Street job, yes, I was making perfect money, but our clients had at least $25 million or more, and I felt like I deserved to be on the other end of the table.”
According to Fox, the most important lesson she learnt on Wall Street was that in order to effectively develop money in the United States, one must either produce ideas or invest in others’ ideas.
“We are taught to attend school, obtain a job, and then work to pay for education and a house. Many of us have been taught that hard effort is the key to success, yet we are still not affluent. We are still not financially free or at ease, but we deserve to be. “There must be something more than just working hard,” she stated.
Her motivation to become an entrepreneur stemmed from her desire to change people’s conceptions of riches and offer possibilities for others.
“The concept of money and wealth creation is not just about information. “It’s about your thought process and mindset,” Fox explained. “First, you have thoughts, which elicit emotions, which lead to action. If your beliefs are incorrect, your behaviors will be incorrect as well. Simply telling people what to do and providing them a solution will not fix the problem. Their mindset must change along with it.
She eventually founded Empify with the purpose of assisting millions of individuals in becoming investors while also changing people’s perceptions on stock purchases and creating true generational wealth.
“Building wealth is like learning a new language, and just like any new language, you have to speak it, you have to read it, and you have to be around people who are constantly talking about it for you to become fluent,” Fox added. “When it comes to investing, we have to speak it, read it, and be around people who are constantly talking about building wealth.”
Empify is a combination of the terms “empower” and “modify” that teaches individuals about financial achievement, including adults, children, and those who are incarcerated and want to transform their lives. According to the entrepreneur, Empify will be both a brick-and-mortar and an online platform in the next five years, providing adults and children with the financial tools and resources they need to manage, build, and pass down their wealth.
