A 6-year-old Georgia child was recently reunited with her father after the minor’s mother allegedly stole her and transported her to Mexico over two years ago. Majesty Williams was at her father’s Smyrna home on April 1, 2021, when she was reportedly taken by her mother Andrea McCord, according to a news release from the Smyrna Police Department and the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.
Following Majesty’s disappearance, her father, James Williams, told authorities that his estranged wife, McCord, had come to visit his daughter at his house, and that he was outside working on his yard while the youngster, then four, and her mother were inside.
Williams stated that at one point, McCord and Majesty were nowhere to be seen. He claimed he afterwards received a text message from McCord in which she stated she had left his car at a grocery shop and the keys under the seat.
Majesty’s father later reported his daughter missing to the police, and they obtained a warrant for McCord’s arrest. “With the possibility that Majesty could be anywhere, NCMEC wanted to elevate her case to a national level,” police said in the press release. “In their partnership with the REELZ television show, On Patrol: Live, NCMEC featured Majesty’s case on March 11, 2023.”
Authorities said they ultimately located McCord and her boyfriend, Custodio Guerra, in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, on Saturday. McCord, 34, and her partner were said to be living in the state with the missing minor.
“We know that it can sometimes be tough to get media attention when it comes to missing children related to family custody situations,” said Angeline Hartmann, Director of Communications at the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.
