The incumbent Gabonese president, Ali Bongo Ondimba, has won a third term with 64,27% of the vote, according to official results announced by the electoral commission on Wednesday (Aug. 30).
In a single round of voting, Ali Bongo defeated his primary competitor Albert Ondo Ossa.
According to Michel Stéphane Bonda, president of Gabonese electoral commission, Ondo Ossa received 30.77% of the vote. The presidential election also featured 12 other contenders.
In presidential, legislative, and local elections, 56.65% of registered voters voted.

Ondo Ossa had accused Bongo of “fraud” before the polls closed on Saturday, claiming he was the genuine winner.
Gabon President Ali Bongo Ondimba, 64, was seeking re-election for a third time in elections this weekend, which might extend his family’s 55-year political dynasty. He has been in charge since 2009, following the death of his father, Omar Bongo, who ruled the country for 41 years.
