Fredericksburg Crowned Top Spot for Family-Friendly Travel Across America

Fredericksburg, Texas, offers picturesque views, cute boutiques, and enough of wine for Mom and Dad to enjoy. Yelp has ranked the Hill Country city as the top family-friendly travel destination in the US, citing various reasons.

Yelp said its users are increasingly looking for family-friendly travel spots. Indeed, searches on Yelp for locations that are “good for kids” increased by 88% last year compared to 2021. To assist parents in finding places to visit during their summer vacations and other trips, the website studied data in cities where “family friendly” searches increased significantly, then completed its ranks with the assistance of a trend expert.

Fredericksburg outperformed all of the other cities. Here’s what Yelp said about it:

“In the heart of the Texas Hill Country, Fredericksburg offers small-town charm while being only a short drive from booming Austin and San Antonio. Experience the town’s German roots with meals and sips at Pontotoc Vineyard Weingarten, followed by a historical tour of the Pioneer Museum. Visit the expansive Wildseed Farms, which include acres of colorful wildflowers, and bring home seeds for your own garden. For a family-friendly stroll, visit nearby Enchanted Rock, a pink granite dome with vistas of Central Texas. While wandering and browsing Main Street, cool up with a Butter Pecan cone or Banana Split from Clear River Ice Cream.”

Another significant winery community, Napa, California, ranked second on Yelp’s list. Other cities in the top ten included Charlottesville, Virginia; Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina; Breckenridge, Colorado; Burlington, Vermont; Ithaca, New York; Virginia Beach, Virginia; San Luis Obispo, California; and Salem, Oregon.

The Texas Hill Country has previously earned national prominence as a desirable destination. CNN Travel ranked the Hill Country as one of the top travel destinations for 2024. The location will attract people even before the summer travel season, as it lies in the path of totality for the solar eclipse on April 8.
