FIFA Confirm Three Bids To Host 2027 Women’s World Cup

FIFA stated on Saturday that three proposals for the 2027 Women’s World Cup had been submitted “across three confederations” before the bidding process closed.

A joint bid from Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany comes from Europe, while Mexico and the United States also collaborated and submitted another joint bid just before Friday’s deadline.

Brazil is the only country with a sole bid.

“FIFA will now conduct a thorough evaluation process, including on-site inspection visits that are due to get underway in February 2024, before publishing its findings in a bid evaluation report in May 2024,” the organisation said in a statement.

The ultimate selection will be chosen through an open vote at the next FIFA Congress on May 17, 2024, in Bangkok.

South Africa had planned to bid but withdrew last month, citing a desire to “present a well-prepared bid for 2031.”

The United States hosted the World Cup on their own in 1999 and 2003, and Germany hosted the event in 2011.

Australia and New Zealand co-hosted the last Women’s World Cup in July and August of this year, with Spain defeating England in the final.
