Family Sues Airbnb After Their 19-Month-Old Baby Dies Of Fentanyl Overdose In Florida Rental

Family sues Airbnb after their 19 month old baby dies of fentanyl overdose in rental

The family of a 19-month-old girl who died of a fentanyl overdose while vacationing at an Airbnb apartment in Florida, USA, has filed a wrongful death action against the home rental firm and the property owner.

Lydie and Boris Lavenir were on vacation with their children in Wellington, Florida, when they discovered their daughter, Enora, in her bed mere hours after they arrived. According to the family, her face was blue with white froth pouring from her lips when paramedics arrived after phoning 911, and it was too late to save the youngster.

According to the Palm Beach County medical examiner and an independent toxicology analysis, her death was determined to be the result of fentanyl exposure.

Investigators were unable to locate any signs of fentanyl at the rental home or on the parents’ possessions, so it’s unclear how the girl got into touch with fentanyl at the rental. “I am now unable to identify how the youngster Enora Lavenir consumed the fentanyl,” an investigator wrote in the newest report, according to the Post.

Following their daughter’s death from an accidental fentanyl overdose, the Lavenir family has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Airbnb, the vacation homeowner, and the previous renter.

Airbnb, the property owners, and the previous renter are named as defendants in the family’s wrongful death complaint. They argue the rental business and vacation homeowner failed to ensure the property’s safety, and that the previous renter was irresponsible in permitting drugs to be used on the property and leaving drugs or drug residue behind.

An Airbnb spokesperson in a statement said “Our hearts go out to the Lavenir family and their loved ones for this devastating loss.”

The previous renter, who booked the rental home through Vrbo, revealed to authorities that they had had a party at the property where cocaine was present, but detectives were unable to link those narcotics to the girl’s overdose, and her death was ruled unintentional.

Fentanyl is an opiate that may be fatal in small dosages and has been responsible for thousands of deaths across the country as overdoses have skyrocketed in recent years.
