On Sunday, the authorities in Las Vegas declared that Chance Comanche, a former NBA G League player, had been taken into custody in relation to the abduction and murder of a lady. Authorities also detained the girlfriend of the 27-year-old in connection with Marayna Rodgers’ death, according to the Los Angeles Times.
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police, two people reported Rodgers, 23, missing on December 7. On December 5, the victim went out and was meant to meet Sakari Harnden, Comanche’s 19-year-old girlfriend. According to the authorities, Harnden and Rodgers were pals.
Before her body was discovered in the Nevada desert, authorities thought foul play had a role in her disappearance. “Detectives determined that Harnden and Comanche were responsible for the murder of Rodgers,” the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said in a statement.
According to local media, Rodgers went on a visiting trip from Washington to Las Vegas with her companions. The day Rodgers vanished, Comanche played for the Stockton Kings in a game against the G League Ignite in Henderson, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Comanche was taken into custody by the California FBI’s Criminal Apprehension squad on Friday in Sacramento. In Las Vegas, his girlfriend was also taken into custody. Comanche is being extradited to Nevada on suspicion of kidnapping, although the charges have been “amended to open murder,” according to authorities.
The Stockton Kings released Comanche, who is being held without bond, on Friday. Before being waived, the 27-year-old suspect was signed by the NBA’s Sacramento Kings. He was also a short-term player with the Trail Blazers in Portland.
