Patrick Mahomes will face Super Bowl LVII with the support of his parents, Pat Mahomes and Randi Martin.

Pat, the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback’s father, was a Major League Baseball pitcher in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Throughout his son’s career, the former athlete has been by his side, as has his ex-wife Randi, who never doubted that her son would achieve this level of success.

“I knew when it came to sports, he was going to be able to reach whatever level he wanted,” she said during a January 2020 FOX4 interview.

Pat and Randi married in the late 1990s and divorced in 2006. They are the proud parents of Patrick and Jackson Mahomes, Patrick’s younger brother. They also adore Patrick’s children, Sterling Skye Mahomes and Patrick “Bronze” Lavon Mahomes III.

So, who are Patrick Mahomes’ most ardent supporters? Everything you need to know about Pat Mahomes and Randi Martin is right here.

They’re from Texas

Randi grew up in the small East Texas town of Troup, according to her website. She attended the same local school from kindergarten to high school there. Randi’s bio states that her “humble, tight-knit town and her parents shaped her into the woman she is today,” and that her siblings and parents still live together in her childhood home.

Pat is originally from Lindale, Texas, and was a standout athlete at Lindale High School, according to the Tyler Morning Telegraph. The former athlete was an all-state football, basketball, and baseball player in the late 1980s. Pat still supports the Lindale Eagles and keeps up with them by reading the local newspaper.

Jackson is a social media star, with over 1 million TikTok followers and over 247,000 Instagram followers. The content creator frequently posts videos of himself cheering on his brother in games.

Pat and Randi are also grandparents to two young children. Patrick and his wife, Brittany Matthews Mahomes, welcomed Sterling Skye on February 20, 2021, and Patrick “Bronze” Lavon III on November 28, 2022.

Pat Mahomes has two half-sisters: Zoe Mahomes, Pat’s daughter from a relationship after his divorce from Randi, and Mia Randall, whom Randi also welcomed after their divorce.

Pat now hosts The Big Mahomes Show, a weekly podcast that “pulls back the curtain on professional sports with coverage of all things sports,” according to the podcast’s Instagram page.

Randi shares her life story, as well as photos and videos of her family, on her online platform, QB Producer: The Official Site of Randi Mahomes. “Set a positive example and make a difference in the lives of others by beginning each day with God in prayer and thanksgiving so that Jesus’ light may shine through me,” her website’s mission statement says.

Randi also provides custom cameos and branded products through QB Producer, such as totes, clutches, sunglasses cases, passport books, and a line dedicated to “everything Game Day.”

Randi has worked as an event planner at Hollytree Country Club since 2005, in addition to her website, and she is involved with the children’s charity Variety KC. She organizes annual birthday fundraisers for the nonprofit to help them raise funds for resources to help disabled children.

They’re divorced but remain on good terms with each other

Randi and Pat divorced in 2006 after getting married in the late 1990s. Randi explains on her website that, despite difficulties during their marriage, she and her ex-husband have a healthy co-parenting relationship. “Randi met Patrick’s father after high school, and they quickly reconnected and started a family,” her bio says. “Randi had no idea when they met that her future husband was a star athlete who played professional baseball.”

The post continues, “Married life with a professional baseball player is a hard life and took a toll on their relationship, which led to divorce. True to Randi’s optimistic spirit, the two are friendly to this day.”

The former spouses frequently reunite to support Patrick at his games and during his milestone moments.

Patrick, like his father, was a three-sport athlete in high school, participating in football, baseball, and basketball. While he was gifted in all three areas, Pat believed he showed the most promise in baseball.

“He grew up in the clubhouse, he was always around the game, and he was always the best player on his baseball team,” Pat said of his son, according to the Los Angeles Times. “He was an incredible shortstop, always leading his team in hitting, and threw 97 mph on the mound, so I always thought he was going to be a baseball player.”

At one point, Pat wanted his son to quit football after his sophomore year in order to focus on baseball. “I just thought we were wasting time when he could have been working on the sports he would go to college for, baseball and basketball. Plus, I didn’t want him to get hurt,” he told the newspaper.

However, mom Randi intervened. “She told him to pray on it and think hard about what he wanted to do, and God would give him the answers. I guess God told him to keep on playing,” Pat recalled.

Now, Pat thinks his son’s experience playing both baseball and basketball is what helped shaped him into the quarterback he is today. “You can tell by the way Patrick plays quarterback that he took pieces of his basketball, the jump throws and no-look passes, and pieces of his baseball, the different arm angles, and he put it all together in a package in football,” he added.

Patrick’s ability to heal quickly comes from Randi

Despite having a sprained ankle and clearly in pain during the 2023 AFC Championship Game, the quarterback managed to reach a top speed of 18.14 mph. Pat told The Washington Post after the game, “Our family motto is: Players make plays. As a result, he made a move.”

Patrick’s father, on the other hand, mentioned that his son inherited Randi’s remarkable ability to heal. “His mother has some unusual genes. She’s got double joints and everything “He stated. “He gets it from his mother. I am the source of my athletic ability. That comes from his mother.”

Pat and Randi are their son’s biggest supporters, and they show it in a variety of ways. The former professional baseball player is very superstitious and wears the same clothes over and over to ensure his son’s success. “Anything for a win,” he said in a January 2020 interview with FOX4. “[What’s working] is working, so you just have to keep doing it until it fails.” He then recalled nearly “freezing to death” while wearing the same white shorts and T-shirt in the winter.

Randi also told FOX4 about her pride in her son. “I am extremely proud. I always say that we are blessed. He considers himself fortunate to be able to live his dream of doing exactly what he enjoys “She told the publication.

After Patrick and the Chiefs won the AFC Championship, Randi posted a photo of herself posing with all of her kids, as well as Patrick’s wife and daughter, on the field, captioned, “Words cannot describe my emotions. I love my family more then anything ❤️ #blessed.”
