In her first interview, Elon Musk’s transgender daughter, Vivian Jenna Wilson, accused him of being an absentee father. She told NBC News that the 53-year-old was harsh to her as a child due to her queerness and feminine features.
Wilson, 20, addressed Musk’s assertions about her sexuality and transition in an interview with psychologist and conservative commentator Jordan Peterson on Monday. The interview was shown on X, and Musk called his daughter by her birth name, claiming she was “dead, killed by the woke mind virus.” He also claimed he was duped into signing documentation allowing his daughter to receive transgender-related medical treatment.
Musk stated in a post on X that his daughter “was born gay and slightly autistic, two attributes that contribute to gender dysphoria.” “I knew that from when [she] was about 4 years old and [she] would pick out clothes for me to wear like a jacket and tell me it was ‘fabulous!, as well as [her] love of musicals & theatre,” according to him. “But [she] was not a girl.”
Wilson refuted her estranged father’s accusations that he was persuaded into signing the forms, despite his initial hesitation. She claimed her father was aware of his conduct when he agreed to her treatment. Parents must grant their consent for their children to get such treatments.
Wilson told NBC News that her father’s statements were inappropriate. “I think he was under the assumption that I wasn’t going to say anything and I would just let this go unchallenged,” Wilson recalled. “Which I’m not going to do, because if you’re going to lie about me, like, blatantly to an audience of millions, I’m not just gonna let that slide.”
Wilson also stated that her father has not been particularly supportive. Musk had joint custody of her and her siblings, although they were largely cared for by their mother or nannies. She also said that Musk chastised her whenever he was there.
“He was cold,” she said. “He’s quite quick to get angry. He is uncaring and narcissistic.
Wilson stated that her father pushed her to exhibit more male features as a child. “I was in fourth grade. We went on this road trip that I didn’t realize was really an advertisement for one of the automobiles — I’m not sure which one — and he was constantly yelling at me violently because my voice was too high,” she remembered. “It was cruel.”
Musk and his first wife, Justine Musk, had five children together, including Wilson. According to Reuters, Wilson requested a name change in 2022 to match her current gender identity. She further stated that she wanted the change implemented because “I no longer live with or wish to be related to my biological father in any way, shape, or form.”
On Thursday, Wilson addressed her father’s recent statements on the social networking platform Threads. “He doesn’t know what I was like as a child because he quite simply wasn’t there,” she said. “And in the little time that he was I was relentlessly harassed for my femininity and queerness.”
“I’ve been reduced to a happy little stereotype,” she told me. “I think that says alot about how he views queer people and children in general.”
In an interview with NBC News on Monday, Wilson expressed feeling judged by her father and Peterson. “I have been basically put into a point where, to a group of people, I have to basically prove whether or not I was suicidal or not to warrant medically transitioning,” according to her. “It’s absolutely mind-boggling.”
