Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is due to make his first appearance before a new judge, who will preside over his s*x-trafficking trial.
The rapper was detained on September 16 for alleged s*x trafficking and racketeering.
Robyn Tarnofsky, a US magistrate judge, ordered that the entertainer be jailed while awaiting trial.
Tarnofsky’s order came after he pleaded not guilty to a 14-page federal charge.
Diddy was accused of s*xually abusing 120 other people, including a 9-year-old youngster.
On Thursday, the rapper will be taken to Manhattan federal court from a Brooklyn jail for an afternoon appearance before presiding judge Arun Subramanian.
The meeting is anticipated to result in deadlines for lawyers on both sides to present arguments that will create the framework for a trial that Diddy’s lawyers hope to begin in April or May of next year.
Prosecutors have not indicated a preference for when the trial will take place.
Subramanian was assigned to the case after another judge recused himself due to past relationships with the case’s lawyers.
Diddy has pled not guilty on the charges. His lawyers have attempted to get him released on bond since his arrest.
However, two judges concluded that releasing the rapper would endanger the community.
Three weeks ago, a judge denied Diddy’s $50 million bail offer, which included house detention and electronic monitoring, after deciding that he was a threat to tamper with witnesses and disrupt the ongoing investigation.
Diddy’s mother, Janice Combs, recently defended him, claiming he is “not the monster people have painted him to be”.
