6 Dead, 7 Injured In Central China Bridge Crash

A automobile lost control and plowed into bicyclists and other cars on a bridge in Hunan province, central China, early Monday morning, killing six people, according to authorities.

According to police, the car was rear-ended, causing it to collide with oncoming traffic going the opposite direction.

Police reported that another seven people were hurt.

Footage from Chinese social media On Monday, a huge white van sped into oncoming traffic on Zhuzhou’s Lusong Bridge, crashing through vehicles.

The footage shows wreckage scattered across the road, with at least four ambulances stopping traffic.

The reason of the accident is being probed, said Chinese state media outlet Xinhua News Agency.

Deadly road accidents are common in China due to low safety requirements and widespread disorderly driving.

In a second incident last month, a school bus collided with a throng outside an eastern Chinese middle school, killing 11 parents and pupils.

According to state channel CCTV, the driver “lost control” of the truck as it approached the school in Shandong’s Tai’an city.

In July, authorities reported that a vehicle crashed into pedestrians in Changsha, killing eight and wounding five.

A 55-year-old suspect from the neighborhood was jailed pending an inquiry, however it was unclear whether the event was deliberate.
