Virginia Students Raise $20K to Buy Their Favorite School Custodian a Jeep

A group of high school students from James Madison High School in Vienna, Virginia, recently surprised Francis Apraku, the school’s custodian, with his dream car to express their gratitude for everything he does. Apraku, who has worked at the school for years, has always had a passion for Jeeps, and the pupils decided to make his dream of owning one come true for his birthday.

Six months ago, students discovered Apraku’s affinity for Jeeps and created a GoFundMe campaign. Their goal was to raise enough money to purchase his dream vehicle. The school community’s generosity enabled them to raise $20,000 for the purchase.

“He’s more than just a custodian. He’s a dear friend to all of us. He’s just a very kind, genuine person,” one student shared, emphasizing how much Apraku means to the school. His warmth and kindness have left a lasting impression on the students, inspiring them to give back in such a meaningful way.

WLBT reports that the kids used their earnings to purchase a cherry red Jeep Wrangler for Apraku from a local store. The timing was ideal, as they were able to deliver it to him just in time for the fall season. On Monday, they surprised Apraku with the car, which made him quite happy.

Apraku was visibly moved by the gesture and conveyed his heartfelt thanks. “Today is a wonderful day in my life, and I will never forget it,” he remarked, reminiscing on the memorable occasion.

The students were overjoyed by Apraku’s reply and felt a great sense of accomplishment for being able to give back to someone who had affected their lives. “I’m excited to see him whipping it around school and seeing him every day.” “He really deserves it,” one student exclaimed, reflecting their delight in making his wish come true.
