After donating blood for more than 50 years, a long-time San Diego Blood Bank donor and volunteer will be welcomed into the National Blood Donation Hall of Fame on Tuesday.
Jim Walker began donating blood in 1968 after discovering his wife was anemic during her pregnancy and realizing there was a need for blood for pregnant women and newborn newborns, according to a release from the San Diego Blood Bank.
The Donation Hall of Fame honors individuals across the country who have showed an uncommon dedication to blood donation, and Jim has donated over 170 liters of blood to far. Jim has also volunteered for the San Diego Blood Bank for 16 years, according to the San Diego Blood Bank.
