Popular Kenyan R&B performer Jacob Obunga (born March 21, 1994), often known by his stage name Otile Brown, is also an actor and songwriter. After releasing his smash single “Imaginary Love,” featuring Khaligraph Jones, he caught people’s attention.
Early Life and Education
Otile Brown, also known as Jacob Obunga, was raised in Miritini, Mombasa, Kenya, but was born on March 21, 1994, in Kisumu. Three brothers and one sister made up his family of four children, to which he was born. Otile Brown was the family’s final kid, by coincidence.
Otile Brown’s educational background isn’t well known, although we do know that he attended a coastal area school and may have pursued further schooling before entering the entertainment sector.
Career
Otile Brown began writing songs and performing at the age of 13 in Mombasa before relocating to Nairobi in 2012.
While he waited for him, he went to Citizen Radio to give Mzazi Willy M Tuva his CD. There, he met Jalang’o, and they talked about Jalang’o’s skills and career prospects.
Jalang’o gave him the advice to switch to singing instead of rapping since he thought he was a better vocalist.
When Jalang’o was prepared to sponsor him, he was given the option of having Dr. Eddie or Wyre serve as his producer.
Dr. Eddie was Otile Brown’s choice.
His first effort, which Dr. Eddie produced, was financed by Jalang’o.
Otile Brown was signed by Dr. Eddie to his record company, Dreamland Music Entertainment. Under the record label, he has released an endless number of songs. He released a song titled “Imaginary Love” on June 3, 2026, with Kenyan rapper Khaligraph Jones. Numerous radio stations aired the song once it attracted popularity.
In March 2017, he quit the record company and went independent, but Dr. Eddie wasn’t pleased with his choice. He forbade him from singing any of the songs he wrote for the label. Otile Brown declined to say why he left the record company.
