A global heating and cooling firm recently gave $10,000 to Long Island graduating high school seniors.

Daikin, which has an office in Lynbrook, awarded $2,000 scholarships to five high school students, as part of its science scholarship initiative.

The scholarship is offered to graduating high school seniors in Garden City, Lawrence, Lynbrook, Oceanside, and West Hempstead.

Each of the recipients had demonstrated academic excellence in the sciences, technology, or mathematics and are pursuing one of these majors in their college studies, according to the company.

Since its inception in 2020, the program has provided $40,000 in scholarship awards to 20 high school students on Long Island.

“Daikin greatly values the importance of education and is pleased to provide financial support to the next generation of scientists, engineers, and other professionals who will provide solutions to some of the most pressing global issues we face today and in the future,” Kim Do, strategic marketing manager of Daikin, said in a statement.

“On behalf of everyone at Daikin, we congratulate this year’s Daikin Science Scholarship winners and offer our best wishes for continued success as they begin their higher educational studies,” Do added.

The company presented the scholarship at an award reception on June 14 at the Daikin Comfort Design Center in Lynbrook.

This year’s recipients are Gabriel Psilakis, Garden City High School; Luis Mejia-Velasquez, Lawrence High School; Sean Krivitsky, Lynbrook High School; Harrison Feldman, Oceanside High School; and Glenda Garcia, West Hempstead Secondary School.
