Former NFL Player Ryan Shazier Files for Divorce from Wife After Cheating Accusations

Ryan Shazier is a former linebacker for the Pittsburgh Steelers. He played college football for the Ohio State Buckeyes and was taken by the Steelers in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft.

After leaving the NFL, the former linebacker had a peaceful life until his marriage came to light. The New York Post reports that he has filed for divorce from Michelle, his wife of almost five years. The website pointed out that Michelle had accused the professional athlete of cheating months prior to the news.

According to The Post, Michelle’s choice to publicize their marital problems and reveal allegedly inappropriate texts between her husband and another lady in November of last year served as a catalyst for their divorce. The message, which has since been removed, mentioned Shazier sending books to Marie, his potential mistress, to instruct her on how to have s.ex.

“A person that loves his family … this is what they do to their family … the WIFE.. that has been there for him since day 1,” Michelle relayed to her followers on Instagram. “Infidelity at its finest! I can’t sit here and keep hiding anymore. You can have it. I deserve better. This is Ryan… he’s a liar and a cheater!”

Before divorcing, the two were first married in 2019, according to the Post. Nearly two years after the former NFL player’s on-field spinal injury left him momentarily paralyzed, they were married. On December 6, 2017, he underwent spine stabilization surgery. On September 9, 2020, he left the NFL because of the injury.

“Michelle and I have been living apart and are currently separated,” Shazier told TMZ shortly after the site broke the details of his alleged affair. “As we work through what comes next for our family, I ask for privacy and prayers.”

Meanwhile, the couple share a 4-year-old son, Lyon while Shazier has a 9-year-old son, RJ, from a previous relationship.
