The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office has decided not to prosecute Sean Diddy Combs for allegedly abusing his former girlfriend Cassie Ventura in a video.
CNN published a hotel surveillance video dated March 5, 2016.
It shows Diddy kicking, hitting, and dragging Cassie.
Cassie is pictured in a black sweater hailing an elevator at the now-closed Intercontinental Hotel in Los Angeles.
Diddy is then seen pursuing the singer down the corridor in a towel.
The music mogul catches up to Cassie, strikes her, and yanks her by the hair before slamming her to the ground.
The district attorney’s office posted a statement on Instagram describing the film as unpleasant and difficult to watch.
It did, however, state that Diddy would not be charged with assault if the incident occurred in 2016.
According to the statement, the year of the attack is no longer within the period for prosecuting assault.
“We find the images extremely disturbing and difficult to watch,” it said.
“If the conduct depicted occurred in 2016, unfortunately, we would be unable to charge.
“As the conduct would have occurred beyond the timeline where a crime of assault can be prosecuted.
“As of today, law enforcement has not presented a case related to the attack depicted in the video against Mr. Combs.
“But we encourage anyone who has been a victim or witness to a crime to report it to law enforcement.”
Cassie filed a now-settled lawsuit in November 2023, and the viral video looks to back up her charges.
In the case, the singer claimed Diddy trafficked, r-ped, and beat her on numerous occasions over a ten-year period.
