Conor McGregor Aims to Surpass Michael Jordan as the World’s Richest Sports Star

Conor McGregor hopes to dethrone NBA legend Michael Jordan as the richest sporting figure of all time before his career is up.

McGregor is a well-known figure in sports, renowned for his dynamic fighting style and aggressive language.

Over his 16-year career, the Irish boxer has amassed hundreds of millions of dollars, making him the richest UFC athlete ever.

McGregor aspires to become the richest athlete in history, surpassing NBA legend Michael Jordan.

McGregor discussed his financial goals on the UFC YouTube channel in January, before to his upcoming fight with Michael Chandler.

He said: “It’s motivating, Michael Jordan’s at the top spot, obviously with the Jordan brand that took him there, he’s worth multiple billions.

“I think it’s $3.3billion he’s made. I’m closing in on a billion, I think I’m at about $650m all in that I’ve made.

“I think they estimate that, I’d probably have to do my own little check of that, but I fancy my chances of getting up that list.

“It was good to see, that Forbes [richest athletes of the year list] was a goal of mine to hit that, I got that and onwards we go.”

McGregor was once ranked 33rd on Sportico’s list, but has subsequently dropped to the bottom of the top 50.

Despite being the only mixed martial artist on the list, he is ranked with legendary athletes like Lionel Messi, Mike Tyson, and Lewis Hamilton.

According to the list, when adjusted for inflation, the former UFC two-weight champion has made $555 million in his professional career.

McGregor’s biggest payday came in 2017, when he battled renowned boxer Floyd Mayweather for a reported $100 million.

McGregor has launched whiskey brand Proper No. Twelve and invested in the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship.

However, he still has a long way to go if he wants to dethrone Jordan, who is reported to have made a staggering $3.75 billion from his NBA career and very successful sneaker collaboration with Nike.
