Elton John, the British singer, claims he was recovering from a severe eye infection that had restricted his vision in one eye.
In a recent Instagram post, the 77-year-old pianist revealed that he battled an infection during the summer and that recuperation would take time.
“Over the summer, I’ve been dealing with a severe eye infection that has unfortunately left me with only limited vision in one eye,” the songwriter wrote.
“I am healing, but it’s an extremely slow process and it will take some time before sight returns to the impacted eye.”
He added that he was “so grateful for the excellent team of doctors and nurses and my family, who have taken such good care of me over the last several weeks”.
“I have been quietly spending the summer recuperating at home, and am feeling positive about the progress I have made in my healing and recovery so far.”
John is one of the best-selling artistes of all time. He is known for hits like ‘Your Song’, ‘Rocket Man’ and ‘I’m Still Standing’.
He has sold over 300 million records worldwide in a music career spanning six decades.
John has received five Grammy Awards and five Brit Awards; including Outstanding Contribution to Music; two Academy Awards, and two Golden Globes.
He also has a Tony Award, a Laurence Olivier Award, a Disney Legends Award, and the Kennedy Center Honour.
