Will Smith, a Hollywood actor and performer, congratulated his daughter on being the first member of their musical family to reach one billion streams. On Wednesday, he shared a photo of Willow Smith’s “Wait a Minute!” with the caption, “@willowsmith is the first person in the family to have a song with a BILLION streams!!”
HipHopDx reports that the song was released in 2015 as the second single from her debut album, Ardipithecus. Though Will has yet to surpass a billion streams, his hit song “Summertime” and its remixes have received about 137 million listens on Spotify, spread among its appearances on studio albums and compilations.
His son Jaden’s song “RITMO (Bad Boys For Life) (Remix)” with Black Eyed Peas and J Balvin had over 939 million Spotify streams, according to the outlet.
In 2023, Willow made history as the first artist to get an NFT plaque from the Recording Industry Association of America.
She received the trophy in recognition of her 2010 breakout single “Whip My Hair” going triple platinum, her singles “Wait A Minute!” and “Meet Me At Our Spot” going double platinum, and her Travis Barker-assisted “Transparent Soul” going platinum.
Roc Nation, Infinite Objects, Willow, and her label commissioned the artwork for the plaque.
