What You Need to Know About Lionel Messi’s Father Meeting with Barcelona Chief Joan Laporta

Jorge Messi, Lionel Messi’s father and agent, has met with Barcelona president Joan Laporta to discuss a sensational return to Spain.

The Argentine superstar is reportedly hesitant to sign a new contract with PSG and has been linked with a sensational return to the Catalan club this summer.

Barcelona has publicly stated their desire to re-sign Messi, with vice president Rafael Yuste stating that the club is eager for him to return.

Jorge’s meeting with Laporta has added fuel to the fire, but their conversation was not planned with transfer talks in mind, according to The Mirror.

According to the Mirror, Jorge’s meeting with Laporta last month was about holding a special match at Camp Nou to honor Messi once he retires from European football.

However, given that his camp received confirmation of Barcelona’s interest through a third party, it seems unlikely that they would have ignored the topic of Messi’s future.

Messi’s current contract with PSG expires at the end of June, leaving much uncertainty about where he will play next season.

Messi has scored 19 goals for Christophe Galtier’s PSG this season, 14 of which have come in Ligue 1 and four in Champions League.

During his time at Barcelona, Messi scored 672 goals in Spain which cemented his status as one of the greatest players ever.
