Tiger Woods Earns $67.2M, Ranks Among Top-Paid Athletes in 2024

Tiger Woods, a famed golfer and one of the world’s Black billionaires, has been named the world’s highest-paid athlete for 2024. Woods’ earnings in the last 12 months have exceeded $67 million, solidifying his standing among the world’s billionaires.

The 48-year-old golfer ranks 23rd on Forbes’ 2024 list of the world’s highest-paid sportsmen, earning an estimated $67.2 million in the past year. The majority of his $55 million in revenues came from off-field ventures such as enterprises, endorsement deals, appearances, collectibles, and licensing.

Woods also made $12.2 million in on-field pay from just four recent starts, as he approaches the end of his brilliant career. Throughout his professional golf career, he has earned about $1.8 billion, including a PGA Tour-record $121 million in prizes.

Tiger Woods’ net worth has increased from $800 million to $1.3 billion after becoming a billionaire in 2022 through clever investments in golf. His 27-year connection with apparel company Nike contributes significantly to his riches.

Woods’ partnership with Nike began in 1996 with a $40 million contract and has grown into a succession of expensive partnerships, including a $320 million, eight-year pact and a $200 million, ten-year deal signed in 2013. By the end of 2023, Woods had made $660 million from his partnership.

Woods abruptly ended his partnership with Nike, sparking speculation about the reasons behind the decision. Some speculate that his decision to focus on his own TGR Ventures and golf course design business was motivated by a need for new branding.

After leaving Nike, Woods created his new apparel line, “Sun Day Red.” The brand is named after Woods’ characteristic final-round outfit and has a tiger insignia with 15 stripes representing his 15 major tournament championships.

In addition to his apparel line, Woods is extending his economic empire through TGR Ventures. This venture capital business has made investments in a variety of industries, including golf technology, hospitality software, and upmarket mini-golf experiences throughout the United States.

“TGR is my chapter two,” Woods stated, “my way of building a legacy that’s about more than birdies and bogies.” In October 2023, he collaborated with Justin Timberlake to launch a second T-Squared Social, a premium sports and entertainment gastro-pub, expanding his business portfolio beyond golf.
