Thomas Tuchel, a former Chelsea coach, is ready to return to management with FC Bayern Munich, as Julian Nagelsmann is on the verge of being fired.

The Bundesliga champions are suffering in the league this season, finishing second to Borussia Dortmund.

Nagelsmann, who has not gone to the training ground this week, will meet with Bayern management on Friday to be officially told of the decision.

Tuchel, 49, has been unemployed since being fired by Stamford Bridge under new owner Todd Boehly in September.

Tuchel has been in Munich for a few weeks and has previously managed Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain. The players at Bayern Munich are already aware that Tuchel will be their new manager.

Tuchel will take over as manager of the club, according to Fabrizio Romano. He has agreed to a 2.5-year contract with the Allianz Arena and will begin training on Monday.

According to reports, Nagelsmann’s dismissal is based on the club’s league performance, with the board claiming he was personally responsible for 10 points dropped this season.

The Bundesliga champions have won 10 successive titles and will meet Manchester City in the Champions League quarter-finals next month.
